There are some things in the news that actually make me sick to my stomach. Every channel has no issue with reporting Africa and Asia as being rife with female oppression and yet cases like Steubenville end with the two main culprits getting 4 years in prison. FOUR YEARS for dragging an unconscious girl around for an entire night, raping her, drugging her, urinating on her and filming it all while laughing and treating the matter as inconsequential. As if that isn’t bad enough, the girl, who’s only 16, is then slut-shamed in court and accused of drinking too much - BECAUSE OBVIOUSLY IF THAT’S THE CASE THEN SHE DESERVED WHAT SHE GOT? And to top matters off, the same issue of being drunk is used in favour of lightening the boys’ sentences while damning the girl who did the same thing. If a guy drinks then he’s excused for his actions, but if a girl does so, she’s responsible for every crime perpetrated against her. It’s things like this that make me lose hope.

edit: it’s not four, it’s actually one year - just in case you wanted to be any more sickened!
